GATE is one of the most well-known competitive exams for engineering students. GATE organizing committee makes dynamic changes every year. GATE-2022 is organized by IIT Bombay. The committee has made three major changes this year.

Relaxation in eligibility criteria
  • GATE committee has opened the opportunity for the non-technical students to appear in the GATE exam for the first time.  
  • Students who are in 3rd year can also appear in the GATE along with 4th year students and graduated students from any UGC approved degree program in Technology/ Science / Agriculture / Commerce / ARTs.
Can apply for more than one subject

Candidates are now allowed to appear in two subject papers in GATE. The combination of subjects should follow the accredited list of subject combinations. Students are also advised to consider the availability of the GATE Exam dates before choosing the subjects.

 Addition of two new subjects in GATE Exam list

 In GATE 2021 students have appeared in two new subject papers, Environmental Science and Engineering (ES) and Humanities & Social Sciences (XH) along with 25 other subject papers. For GATE 2022 two more subjects, Geomatics Engineering (GE) and Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering (NM), have been added. So, total number of GATE 2022 subject papers is 29.
