WBCS Syllabus

WBPSC has designed the syllabus for Preliminary and Mains exam of WBCS. The exam stricture and the syllabus are given below in detail.

  • WBCS Prelims is a MCQ type test, consisting of General Studies only. 
  • WBCS Mains consists of six different compulsory papers and one optional subject of candidate’s choice including two papers.
  • The candidates who are aiming for Group A and Group B services need to take an optional subject.
  • Four out of six compulsory papers contain MCQ Type of questions. These are

General Studies II

The Constitution of India and Indian Economy including role and functions of Reserve Bank of India

Arithmetic and Test of Reasoning

  • If a candidate discloses his/her identity, 10% marks will be deducted from the total marks.
  • A candidate can select the language WBCS Mains Exam as Bengali or English.

Actually the Prelims syllabus of WBCS is an abridged version of the WBCS mains syllabus. The WBCS Prelims syllabus is listed below.
